Martinez Family Reunion

July 2-4, 2010

Dear Martinez Family:

On behalf of the Martinez Family Reunion Planning Committee we’d like to invite you to join us for the 2010 Martinez Family Reunion in Alamosa, Colorado.  We strongly encourage you to pre-register by completing the enclosed registration form or online at www.martinezreunion.org.

Pre-registration deadline is June 15, 2010. 

Our reunion will be held over the 4th of July weekend from Friday through Sunday.  Here is the schedule of events:

Friday, July 2nd

5:00 pm - Evening Registration/6:00 pm - Dinner - Fried Chicken Dinner with a variety of salads to choose from, rolls and homemade cookies from your relatives.  (If you are interested in sharing your favorite homemade cookies with your family, please send a message to Jeanine Garcia at jeaninedave2000@aol.com)

Saturday, July 3rd

9:00 am - Breakfast will be served at the Parish Hall.  A buffet of pancakes, eggs and sausage will be served to satisfy your appetite.

At 1:00 pm, our very own Chef Jeanine Garcia will teach a cooking class showing those that are interested how to make tortillas, sopapillas and biscochitos.  The fruits of our labor will be enjoyed at dinner.  Cost of the class will be $20, which will include your very own Martinez Family Reunion Apron and the recipes for the three dishes being made.  You can pre-pay on the Reunion Fundraising and Products Page of the reunion website or by completing the enclosed pre-registration form.

At 6:00 pm, a feast of traditional family dishes will be served with beans, red chili with pork, tamales, tortillas, sopapillas, and chips and salsa.  There will also be a kid's menu with ingredients for tacos.  Dessert will be a choice of chocolate, white or carrot cake.

A dance will follow at the Senior Center with local DJ.  Beverages and light snacks will be available.

Sunday, July 4th

Plan on attending mass with the family at the Sacred Heart Parish at 8:00 AM. 

Breakfast - on your own

 

A picnic / barbecue will begin around noon at Zapata Park.  The menu will include flank steak, fried chicken, pulled pork for sandwiches and of course, hamburgers and hot dogs for the kids.  Lunch will be accompanied with baked beans, cole slaw, chips, watermelon and more of those homemade cookies from your relatives.

Fundraising Raffle – if you have items to donate to the raffle, please contact Paula or Anthony at the addresses below.

“Guess whose baby picture it is” game with a prize at the dinner on Saturday evening – please send a copy of your baby pictures and we will scan them and return your originals to you at the reunion - if they are available online please send them to the Martinez reunion email address:  martinezreunion@pacbell.net

We are also putting together a family recipe book – if you could send along a favorite recipe enjoyed by your family (include a story about how it has been shared – special occasions, holidays, etc.) please send it along to us – either at the Martinez reunion email address or directly to Catherine Thompson at cathyt818@q.com.  If you do not have access to email please feel free to send it to the return address on this letter.

We will have many volunteer opportunities – especially for younger folks in the 15-25 year age range – it will be a great opportunity to get to know your generation and rewarding as well.  Please indicate on your registration form or contact us below if you want to be a volunteer.  We look forward to seeing you at the reunion in Alamosa on the 4th of July weekend!
